Hi. I made a similar post a few days ago which was kind of a fail (because of imageshack) but I'm going to a casual-ish wedding and i was planning on wearing this shirt and tie, unless of course everyone here tells me not to. I'm gonna wear it with a light grey suit but I'm not positive this tie goes with this shirt so I thought I'd let you guys decide. Thanks in advance!

If you like it wear it.

No one here is going to wear it so you really should have the confidence to decide yourself. It really is not the place of a web board to dress a grown man.

I'd wear that tie and a light gray suit with a solid light pink shirt. Great look.

The scales of the tie-stripe and shirt-check seem too close, IMHO.

Shirt tie looks acceptable for the office. Find something simpler and nicer for the wedding.

Some people can pull off the "striped tie and patterned shirt" look. It's very busy, and it paints the wearer as a bold--perhaps, brash--character. Is that the image you are going for? (Personally, it reeks of "1970s used car salesman" to me--but I'm old enough to have been traumatized by the look the first time around. YMMV.)

In my mind, "style" is as much about appropriateness for the occasion as it is a particular "look" in the abstract: While bespoke white tie may be perfect for opening night at La Scala, it is far less stylish if worn to a barbeque.

Generally speaking, weddings are occasions where attention should be focussed on the bride and groom and a guest should not seek to draw attention to him/herself. Consequently, while the shirt/tie combo you have pictured may do well at a party it may not be appropriate for a wedding.

Ultimately, however, you know the parties involved and are better able to judge than we on a chat board what will be appropriate on this occasion. Depending on the circumstances, this could be perfect or scandalous.

Regards,
AEP

I couldn't disagree more, it looks like average bland office-wear to me, there is nothing bold about this look.
