I'm not sure, but I've found that my pockets lay a lot flatter when wearing pleated trousers. For some reason, I think they bulge with just about all of my flat front trousers no matter how well the trouser fit.

Interesting note. I don't have any non-flat front pants. I'm not too sure that I want to try pleats though. I'm young and tall and skinny... to me they seem boring.

This is a good thread though. I hope some people chime in with pictures of their trousers that are perfectly fitted from various angles. I remember one picture in particular of a guy from back in the day (black and white) with a top hat, and pants that just looked amazing. I'm not sure this is enough for someone to find it, but I know it's been posted on here before.

Ok, I got a picture of me wearing some pleated trousers. Any thoughts?

I think they look a whole lot better. You look 15 pounds lighter and a little taller. The pleats make you look less wide, perhaps because the pockets don't span. Also, the crease looks good on you.

I also think the pleated trousers looks better. They actually look slimmer and the break is better (easily fixed on the other flat fronts)

If you're having a problem with the pockets jutting out, get trousers that have frog mouth pockets and that problem is instantly gone.

By the way, the pleated trousers are better quality than the flat front trousers. The flat front trousers in the pictures are cheap Macys trousers, the pleated trousers are Hickey Freeman so maybe there is something to this whole better quality thing after all.

I would have to agree that the pleated pants look better on you than the flat fronts. They make you look taller, while the flat fronts make your hips look too big.

I have the same problem of the pockets flaring out as you when I wear flat fronts as a result of Squating more weight in the gym. Luckily for you, the pleats dont open on your hickey freemans. So far all of the pleated pants I've tried keep opening as a result of my meaty thighs [IMG]

No matter how poorly my pants will fit, or how much I have to eventually spend on MTM or bespoke pants, I will continue to squat as heavy as I can. [IMG]

The pleated pants look a little better. The other pants might have to be retired.

The stance is causing some of the mostly-lower-body look.

A tie or a bolder shirt would put more of the focus on the upper body.

What do you guys think about Hickey Freeman pants? Where do they fall on the quality scale?

Oxxford trousers can be had for around $200(sales, discounters and eBay). [IMG]

Yeah, I'm working on that, but there haven't been any on ebay in my size lately. Anyway, what's with the dead horse icon? Do you have something better to talk about?

I agree that the pleated pants look a bit better. However, one of the reasons that you look "all-legs" is that you have no head in the pictures. It kind of changes the balance of your body.

Plus I take the pictures using the timing thing on the camera and have the camera set pretty low so that it's taking the shot from a lower point upwards, which adds to the "all legs" illusion.

BTW, even though I think the pleated look better in the pics, I don't think the flat fronts are bad. I personally wear mainly flat fronts, but I have no ass to speak of and hardly have bulging thighs.
