Is it all that dangerous to send credit card info through email? I'm not really in the know when it comes to all this tech stuff.

Can you tell what the situation is? Why would this be necessary?

And just as a general guideline, if you have to give ID and PW information to a business partner, for God's sake, do not put in the same email!

you can pm me your credit card details, and I'll take care of the rest.

There really are good people in the world today.

Honestly though, it was just one of those things going through my mind.

I work for a credit auth service*, you can send it to us, and we will take care of that end of the transaction

*A lie. You can still send it to me, though.

A Nigerian scammer emailed me last week with a long story about acquiring millions of Nigerian government dollars for free. All he needed was a copy of my driver's license, address, etc.

I wrote back asking if it would be helpful if I just sent him a copy of my credit card to which he responded: "Yes, that would be much easier."

Needless to say, he was probably pretty excited in anticipation of my response for a few days afterwards.

The Prince of Zazkaban has also informed me that he'd like to donate all his money, jewels, etc, into my name. Just needed my SSN, DLN, etc.
Sounded like such a great deal!

It is not the most secure way to send information but I don't think it is that dangerous, provided you are sending it to a trusted party. You can split your credit card details amongst several emails if you want to be more secure.

Your credit card number is much more likely to be compromised by a waiter in a restaurant, a store clerk or a corrupt employee of some credit card processing company.
