I just returned from Europe, to two messages from my Bank and Amex.
They had put a 'stop' on my cards as someone had been trying to purchase airline tickets with them.
Bizarrely the same airlines (Malaysian, Etihad and Emirates).
What pisses me off is the hassle involved in having new cards issued and trying to explain to them 'that i wasn't even in the country'.
Has anyone experienced this and how the F*&K do these wankers get the details?

I'm still in school and my card is still connected to my parents' account (I pay it and my name is on it) and I tried to use it with Blake tonight and it was declined. Made a call and someone somehow got a $500 cash advance from my card WITHOUT having my card and the cc company (BofA Visa) let it go through yet suspended my card right afterwards without calling me or my mom. Visa wouldn't hardly talk to me even though my name is on the card because it is linked to my mother's account. I felt like a huge d-bag receiving a message from Blake telling me my card was declined. I wanted to blow someone out with BofA but didn't bother as the girl answering the phone of course had nothing to do with it.

I think they took mine at a Duty Free at Mexico City aerorporte. Because after a trip, someone try to buy like $400 at sanborns and I only used cash when I was in MX at the time. Duty free was the only place I swiped my card.

all it takes is the number and a few things....

Amex is pretty good with dealing with those issues. They contacted me in the past regarding a similiar problem and they simply took it off and sent me a new card. It was the first and last time I ever heard of the issue again.
