The prize for the contest is $500.00 or a plane ticket to hang with me and make the next collab jean ( all inclusive of course).
Still haven't decided on which maybe a vote is in order.

i probably won't win, but you may as well fly me up there so we can just set up a direct deposit into your bank account and skip all this paypal nonsense.

Hey Mauro I am so excited this project has come to fruition. I cannot wait to see the construction details in person.

This jeans sounds like it truly pays homage to the unique fading properties of indigo--many things fade but none like indigo. The hardware fading, for example, will offer great contrast to denim fading, highlighting the deep and complex way indigo wears. I pray the various seam ridges we talked about made it into the final product.

Even though the fabric represents, by mass, the greatest part of the jean a nuanced garment construction is required to maximize its full potential. While I not familiar enough to talk about the sewing perhaps I can contribute to describing the cloth for anyone interested.

If the yarns are the building blocks that define a fabric's character then cotton fibers can be describes as the particles that create the yarns. In the case of this fabric the fibers are of an extra long staple cotton- the pima (Gossypium Barbadense). It is the same cotton often branded as Supima. Cone brands denims created with this cotton as Black Seed for the dark colored seeds, which separately gently from the cotton. The longer fibers allow for much stronger ring spun yarns. It is difficult to talk about a superior product without considering cotton length.

Something interesting is that denims built from pima yarns have the characteristic of a subtle sheen. This enhances the wet effect you will see on the CVSF denim, which offers a rarely seen "sheen fade." You will actually need to break into the sheen to get to the black dye. When the black wears off on parts on your jean you will see the bright blue of Cone's pure indigo. As the indigo does not penetrate to the yarn's core it creates a "ring dye effect" providing ample opportunity to expose the white center. All told over time this denim will offer 4 layers of contrast: leather like sheen, black fuzzy phase layer, blue indigo, white of yarn.

I can cetainly go on and on, especially about the particulars of the shuttle loom but I may have written too much even for my usual audience already.

Is there any significance to the 108 other than thats the yardage you could get? (a part of me kicks myself for starting my peasant status contest now... ) The prize of the contest is sweet, either way if you buy and enter its a win-win. If I am unable to get in on this, are you guys planning on do any other Crate collabs similar to this in the future? Like maybe a once a year, or ever few years type thing?
