There was and I can't for the life of me find it now. It happened last year I believe. An uncompromised bottle of single-malt from one of the more better known distilleries (the name escapes me now) was found in a shipwreck and auctioned. I do believe that the distillery was going to try and replicate it though.

If anybody can find the story I would certainly appreciate a memory jog.

It only just thawed a few days ago. They're just extracted a small sample and are working with the original brand, Mackinlays to recreate it.

I doubt he is lying. I wasn't referring to a conversation I had with him months ago, I talked to him last week.

On a side note, I'm not so sure know what you are taking about. No on is working with Mackinlays, they no longer exist. My friend is employed by United Breweries Group the owners of Whyte & Mackay, the company that bought the rights to Mackinlays.

No, while that was a cool story, it is definitely a single-malt I'm thinking of. The story may have been on one of the blogs of the better known distilleries, now that I mention it again.

yup Whyte and Mackay are the ones who are working with the antarctic foundation to get the recipe.


The whiskey only thawed on the 13th of this month, or at least that's what's been reported.

They have only taken enough to get the recipe, which i imagine isn't much.

The rest is all going back to Shackleton's hutt.
