Yes you can. I'm surprised it's not in the top 10 cities. It's actually the fifth largest metropolitan area ("Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Valley"), but not one of the 10 largest cities.

I have little experience upstate. Of the places I have been to enough to get an opinion, Mount Vernon is definitely the worst. Total basket case.

I would think Yonkers and Mt. Vernon would both be in the NYC metro area, since they border the city (and New Rochelle comes within 200 yards of doing so...)

I'd vote Schenectady, but Mike's diner redeems that place entirely. Sort of like how Gus's Hot Dogs saves Albany (even though it's technically in Watervliet, right?)
