Cowboy boots with suits???

I'm not the most up to date person with style, but I was really surprised when I read on the askandy board that most people think its appropriate to wear cowboy boots with their suits. I've never seen this before. Is this a regional thing, so if you live in places like Texas then this would be okay. I guess I'm still dubious of people wearing suits with sneakers, and am not ready to accept this either.

Why not a string cow boy tie or shaps?

Only if you are from Texas. Not pretending to be from Texas like someone we know.

Definitely - If you live in Texas, Arizona (like me), any of the other Red States or if you work in Washington D.C., it's perfectly acceptable.

I like to wear my ropers myself just to pay tribute to our (hopefully) soon to be reelected President.

Same goes for some parts of California (primarily agricultural areas.)

I don't know about that.. I've lived in Texas all my life, and there are alot of cowboys/rednecks where I live, but even here I think cowboy boots with a suit is a little extreme. Although if this forum were filled with people where I live, there would be non-stop talk about the styles of cowboy boots that are worn with suits. I live in a rural area, but I'm not "country" in the least, so when I or other people like me see someone in a suit with boots, there's no reason to make a fuss. It's common, but we shake our heads a little.

Perhaps I should make myself clear - I'm not saying that you should wear boots with your suits, just that the look does not stand out at all in many areas.

The only boots that work with suits are slim pointed ankle boots.
