Found a fabulous Countess Mara tie at a resale shop the other day. It has the CM label on one end, without a loop, so I'm assuming it's from the era when all the guys wore tieclips. No material mentioned, however. I'd like to assume the tie is all silk, but did they make CDM ties of all or part polyester? I'm sure the tie isn't cotton.
I know there was a period when polyester was so big even upscale ties participated in the trend.

I have and have had Countess Mara ties that are 100% polyester (and 100% silk and blends). No discernible difference in quality or patterns, just material. The Countess Mara ties I have I inherited from my Dad, and I think he received most of them as gifts from his mom.

Thanks. No evidence of a missing label on this particular tie. The one label is near the end at a diagonal. Wonder when it became standard or required to have the material on an American tie. This CM tie doesn't give the country where made either but says "Countess Mara New York."
