Cotton trouser care/ironing question

Can you over-iron cotton trousers (not chinos/khakis)?

I like the look of a crisp trouser but don't want to accelerate wear by too much ironing (after each wear)

yes you can over press cotton garments....but some basic care should prevent that from happening.

use a cloth covered padded ironing surface
use a press cloth
watch the temp setting on the iron...do not just set it it to high and go to it


If you are going for a crisp look i suggest a little sizing or stratch...this will help get the crisp l ook you want and does not require over pressing.

Good tips. Also, iron as much as possible from the inside rather than the outside. Using a sleeveboard can help for some of the more awkward parts. And getting them a bit steamy/damp before going at it with a dry iron can help avoid having to iron them excessively (just like shirts).
