cotton or wool dress socks

most of us probably have both types. i'm curious as to which you prefer and why. johnnynorman, i was going to ask this question even before i saw your thread.

Cotton for summer, wool for winter, always over the calf.

Cotton can get clammy, but it is preferable in the hottest weather. The other 3 1/2 seasons, it's wool for me.

Odd, the one time I find my merino socks more comfortable than cotton is during the summer when the superior moisture absorbency of wool keeps the perspiration off my feet.

And regardless of material, always over the calf.

I far prefer wool over the calf. They seem to stay up better. They are only too warm on the absolute hottest dog days of summer. Even then, I'm in A/C nearly all day anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Cotton for me, almost all year round. I find that wool can itch...

the poll is fairly close. i know that many people just don't like the feeling of wool against their skin. wool feels dressier to me but i find them to be equally comfortable.

as far as length, i really don't have a preference.
