I have seen on occasion some interesting cotton and silk shirts. Zegna had a few in thier Napoli Couture range a few years ago.

Anyone have experience with these? I like to wash my shirts, must these be dry cleaned only?

Thanks

I have some silk/linen RL Polo shirts - nice fabric and yes, you can launder and iron happily at home.

I would worry that they wear warm. Do they?

I am thinking of them for winter evening wear shirts. They prob wear warm, but less of a concern in the colder months.

Was concerned about shrinking and washing induced stiffness.

The 71%:29% silk/linen ones I mentioned are cool. I have a couple in light pastel shades and I tend to wear them open-necked in summer, which obviously I wouldn't do if they felt warm. I guess the weave used matters more than the material in this case... or the linen mitigates just enough?

I wash mine on the low temperature cycle and then tumble-dry to near-dry, before ironing. No shrinkage at all and a bit of fabric softener in the wash seems to prevent stiffness. YMMV of course.

I recently saw some cotton - silk royal oxfords. They looked great but I had the same reservations as others about how breathable / warm they would be and about ease of cleaning.

Silk Wash will help maintain a silk or silk-blend garment's condition. Drying at a low temperature for a few minutes probably is best, unless the item is not supposed to go in the dryer. Shrinkage is unlikely to be a problem - silk/cotton is not linen.
