While my vision was not as bad, I had Lasik done by Dr. Mandel (www.mandelvision.com) just over 2 weeks ago. I was -3.25 in each eye and one day after the procedure I was 20/20.
My vision is still adjusting so it could potentially get better. The few days after I was seeing pretty intense halos at night, but that has been fading back to normal. The dryness which is also subsiding is the only discomfort that I've experienced after the procedure.
The surgery itself was uncomfortable, but very quick with little recovery time. I didn't receive any painkillers, just anesthetic drops in the eyes and while uncomfortable, the procedure was not unbearable. I was watching TV that evening and back in the office the next afternoon. The one side-effect that I had that apparently not that many people get is that I had burst blood vessels in both eyes such that the white parts of my eyes looked like they were filled with blood (picture the zombies in 28 Days Later).
While it is nothing to be concerned about , I look kind of scary. Apparently it is the result of the pressure from the clamp on the eye. Most of the blood has reabsorbed in one eye, but the other one still has some redness in it. I was told it would take a few weeks to completely clear up.
