I used to get out and visit a varitey of forums but have not had that oppertunity in some time due to a heavy work load. Today I did get a snow day off and found an interesting forum that is devoted to clothing and attire and such and seems to be populated by some really fine folks. I spent the good part of the day catching up on past post about hats in the proper section by answering open post of all ages from there.

Now I am getting bombarded with accusations that I am on that forum to spam and while that is furthest thing from the truth, I am not sure how to respond and not look like the bad new guy and yet all I wanted to do was have a joy filled day talking hats.

Dear Abby or John or whom so ever will can you advise me on the proper ettiqutte on dealing with such a delicate situation or should I view it as delicate as all or just disregard such negativity.

Thank you for your kind replies.

I'd say one rule of thumb is that if you are offering or describing your own goods or services, try to confine such posts to the "buying and selling" forum. Beyond that, without any context, it's hard to comment usefully. I'd say take thoughtful, constructive criticism under consideration and don't sweat the rest.

There are several other board participants who are also in one end of the business or another. I can't think of any in current circulation whose conduct should be a cautionary tale to you-- you may decide for yourself which of them balance self-effacement and assertion to the correct degree.

A good way to stop these comments is to stop posting about subjects that you know little or nothing about with stereotypical and hate filled posts.
