Everyone seems to be wearing them but I'm having a hard time finding them. Are they simply called "men's ankle tapered pants"? Why can't I find any to buy online lol.. I know it's preferable to get everything tailored fit but if ordering these online do you simply by your size or are people ordering shorter length?
    Thanks

I think the right term is "too short".

Step 1: 6'4" model chosen for photoshoots because tall people are what the industry wants as models.
Step 2: Model models clothes made for 5'8" average sized people.
Step 3: Industry attempts to justify the too short length in the legs, jacket length, and sleeves as "fashionable" when in reality you look like Pee Wee Herman most of the time.

"Too short" is a very good description.

You'll probably have more success with this question on the SWD side of the board.

Generally, you just see them marketed as cropped pants. Like this:

Colloquially, they're sometimes referred to as clam diggers, although that's sort of old school (and I don't know if I've ever seen a brand or store use the term). Lots of times, they're not even labeled in any way; they just come short. You kind of know what you're getting into if you're familiar with the designer.

If you're talking about that GQ/ Thom Browne sort of cropped look, I think that feels really stale in 2015, but there are other designers taking that look and doing other things with it. Lots of Japanese labels, like Niche, TS(S), or more avant garde brands/ designers like Yohji Yamamoto.

Depending on how short you want to go, you're probably better off with just buying a pair of pants you want and taking them to the tailors. Anything below the knee can be altered pretty easily.
