My guess is that they aren't shell cordovan. I'm inclined to believe they are corrected grain leather as another poster suggested. If they had been worn a bit, I'd be able to know for sure, but even as they are, the leather just isn't what I'm used to seeing with shell cordovan.

Not shell - look at the fine wrinkles on the vamp.

However, these shoes are not too bad - if you got a good price, you can keep them for bad-weather wear or as a beater pair. Longwings are too nice to be thrown out.
