I own several pair of Alden Cordovans, but two of them have developed ripples (small) that run length wise instead of across the shoe. Has anyone else had this happen?

Picture attached - very hard to capture them, but they are on the right side of the shoe.

I don't see it.

Possibly an unevenness in the shell. I have seen good quality shell exhibit variations in thickness from one side of a vamp to the other and even localized variations that are hard to explain except perhaps as a result of the fact that this is a natural product and as such subject to nutritional and genetic factors.

Yeah, it looks like a non-issue. I have found shell can be very inconsistant.

^^^I agree, I've seen this in some of my shell shoes.

Thanks for the replies. Had a conversation yesterday with a local Alden rep at a trunk show who recommended using more cream to soften the shell more... he thought it would minimize it. I never really felt it was a big problem, just different from the way my other shell broke in.
