cordovan discoloration?

just received my pair of RL MacCallums. the right shoe is slightly lighter in color than the left shoe, probably from being the display shoe. if it were just calf, it'd be easy to let a darker shoe cream soak into it and polish it out, but since it's cordovan i'm not sure what to do to make it darker. suggestions? it's not as large a variation as shown in my pic below, this is at its greatest variation in color due to the lighting. the color only varies at the toe and vamp, as the sides and heel panels are the same colors on both shoes.

Use Saphir renovateur on both and polish both with paste polish. Should even them up.

RIDER's the guy to ask this question. Cordovan varies in color - it's not uncommon to see two parts of the same shoe age or color differently. Whether those pieces came from the same hide or not I don't know. I seem to think I've got some variance in color on my Marlows and Darltons, but not terribly noticeable. Can you post a pic?

Try polishing/treating with dark brown or burgundy AE cordovan care cream? that worked for me with my Polo Oxnard boots.....

The Alden Store in SF sells the alden products... they ship too.

Franco's carries Saphir products ( I like them better than the Alden products on my Aldens)

I know this is a bit of a diversion, but what are the boots? They look really good.

Also, the lightening may have been from excessive light exposure, but I'm sure there could be other sources. Actually, I kind of like the patina of the left boot, be neat is they were both that way.

They're Shell Cordovan made by Crockett & Jones for Ralph Lauren. C&J also makes plain toe bluchers, wingtip bluchers, penny loafers and tassel loafers for RL, all of which are currently on the RL website. I don't know why they don't put these on the website as well. They should be on sale for 49% off right now, but since they're not on the web you'd have to have one of the RL stores get them for you.

+1 on the cordovan shoe cream the stuff is much stronger than calf skin polish and should even up the discoloration.
