Cordovan Crup

Is this the same as Shell Cordovan as there seems to be some confusion in my research

Any ideas please
I have had it suggested that crup is the actual horse hide from the rear and shell cordovan is the area below the hide??

The Shell covers the crup. It’s (the shell) the membrane covering the crup. So in a sense, it’s the same anatomically, yet two distinct structures.

At least that’s the way I’ve heard it explained.
