1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Sadly, not to wear. Cracking like that will be accelerated when worn on the street. Looks to have been sitting for years now. However, for the price you paid, I'd love to take a reciprocating saw to them and see what the construction was like.

I don't know what can be done about leather that's cracking from dryness. But I saw a review of dandy shoe care at permanent style and the leather treatment photos looked impressive. But I have never used them and have no idea as to price.

That site is amazing! I don't know if they can do anything for your shoes, but if anyone can it sure looks like they are the ones! Some of those shoes look nothing short of miraculous! I know my pops has been hanging on to a pair of alligator Brioni shoes with a few issues, although not as bad as those Lobbs, and I am going to email him about the Dandy Shoe Care place right now! Thanks for sharing that.

Don't have the link but check the review by Simon Crompton at permanent style. Although he did not have leather treated for tears, the repatination of his Weston's looked amazing. I was thinking of having that done to a pair of my EG Windsors.

Great work, by Dandy Shoe Care. So, he's doing this all with dyes, creams and polishes?

Dyes. And of course, sealed in with polishes.

DSC and Hom Nugyen are artisans. SSC and Talon Rouge are just a notch above cobblers. And EG/Berluti are just peasants of the patina world.

And unfortunately, not enough stripping/decapage info in the shoe care thread. No bleach, no acetone, no sand paper, no art.

XP from Recent Purchases thread. The Bally Scribes arrived today. The color is fantastic and construction seems very nice. Sizing down 1.5 worked perfectly for me. As always my pics are awful.
It's thanks to SF resident shoe experts including yourself that I was ale to confidently take the plunge on these :slayer:
