That's very interesting and it's been confusing me. I haven't bought any US shoes for this reason. When sellers advertise RL Marlows or Darltons and happen to show the side of the box, the US size is shown as half a size up from the UK size. This may just be for C&J though.

I've always thought the 1 size up rule applied till I saw that.

Sellers may have a different definition of the phrase 'personal collection' :)

I, too, am always amused when a seller says it is from his "personal" collection and the sizes widely vary, like from a US 9 to US 11. My dad has the largest collection of men's shoes I have ever personally seen outside of a store and his shoes vary by only 1/2 size. In one rare instance, due to the elongated toe, he fit into a pair of shoes that were a full size larger than he normally wears, but he hated those anyway and got rid of them. And what is supposed to be implied by the "personal" collection versus not personal collection? Only shoes from a personal collection are well-cared for whereas all others have been trashed? I don't get the purpose of this language in an auction.

I guess "personal collection" conveys a message that the item, at least, was not thrifted.

For many of us this equals to a perfect 11.5D (US sizing)
