I never checked with EG regarding this pair, but I'm guessing mid-1980s, based on the sole stamp, EG handwriting on the shoe, and use of the 33 last.

I can see switching from EG to Cheaney - you can probably lower the price and make the shoe a bit more of a competitive price versus J&M, Florsheim, or whoever they viewed as the competition back then. But I'm not sure why you would think your clients would stick with you when you switch from Cheaney to third-world glued shoes with the insanely pointy toe.

Only for certain UK makers though. C&J is one of them, though.

10.5E for C&J = 11D US sizing which fits in with the seller's experience.

that may well be, but if i got a nickel from every seller to claim shoes were:

    1) from his personal collection

    &

    2) fit a particular size "perfectly"

only to find this was not the case, I'd be posting daily on the Shoe Porn thread (instead of weekly).

By the way, of course there is no exact formula for US to UK size conversion, as sizes vary from maker to maker. However, MOST UK makers are 1 size up from the US size. If one must follow a "rule of thumb", this is probably the safest bet.
