    what year (or decade) were these made in. It seems Cole Haan once gave a [email protected] about the quality of their footwear... something I have not seen since they re-made some of their 40's styles for a short time.

    I agree, wouldn't that make them a bit narrower than a US D?

    Nah. the UK E is generally equivalent to the US D. If it's a UK size, they're close to a US 11 1/2D (depending on the last, of which i am unfamiliar).

    I thought the lowndes were a pretty elongated shoe, but I'm sure someone here on SF has a pair, so they can tell about width.
