Very nice Richie Rich... I have some very similar pictures to those that I took two years ago. I'll be taking new ones with my new digital cam in less than two months.

J, Mnemonic, and myself will be heading out to Tokyo for two weeks, I miss it.

It will be J and Mnemonic's first time there. Should be fun.

What a fun thread. Â Makes me wanna pack my bags. Â Rome's been well-represented here, so I'll show a few from my first trip to Venice. Â The first one is actually from the window of the train, of the Swiss Alps. Â Sorry for the blurry trees, but we were going pretty fast.
SwissAlps.jpg
A less glamorous view of Venice's Grand Canal that you usually see. Â I liked the brightly colored boats though, juxtaposed against the somewhat "worn" buildings along the canal.
ColorfulboatsGrandCanalVenice.jpg
I didn't notice until I started posting that a lot of my pics from my travels are more "real" than post-card-ish. Â For instance, not all Gondaliers are 24 with Josh Grobin's voice. Â This sweet little guy had been doing this work for most of his adult life...
Gondolier.jpg
...in this, his "boat"
Gondola.jpg
Anyway, enjoy the brief trip to Venice. Â I'll be back after the Derby with pix from my horseback tour across Ireland.

OK, just a couple more of my favorites from my first trip to Switzerland and Italy... This was the view from my hotel in Zurich. Â It was a little hazy, but EXACTLY what I expected to see...
Zurich.jpg
and this one in Rome is one of my favorites from that trip. By chance, my mom and I happened upon the Trevi Fountain the day that Italy was bidding farewell to the Lira. Â So they made a big ceremony out of it by bringing in the military band to play a "Farewell to the Lira" tribute. Â Quite momentous, actually. Â But I especially like this photo because the silhouetted musicians in the foreground remind me of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

I'll get around to Ireland later.

wow, great thread. throw a few pics of Vietnam up here: This is at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi: This is on the way to the Perfume Pagoda, about 2 hours outside Hanoi: This was taken with my phone, but I really like it at a late night noodle stand in Saigon:

Stamford, Lincolnshire - about 3 miles from where I live. Hadrian's Wall, just above Housesteads Fort, Northumberland. The photo was taken in March this year, and shows that the weather in northern England isn't always bad. Finally, where I've been for the last couple of months - Shaibah, Iraq.
