The teapot is new. The little dish it’s sitting on is from the 11/12th century.
Right, mixed them up. My "wow" still stands. How difficult was it for you to source it from Austria? Were you looking for this particular style specifically?

I was looking for the specific kind of plate. Not hard to find at all—these are not super rare and not particularly interesting to Asian collectors, who want artisanal pieces and not regular ware used by peasants. Prices are low enough that counterfeiting doesn’t make much sense.

I really wonder why Ikea doesn't create a premium division to revive some of their best vintage styles

The Kroken lounger is so killer

yep an ex copped the lounge chair and side table they rereleased. afterwards, it looks like Ikea moved the side table into constant production but changed up the pattern and details.

They gotta reissue the various versions/configurations of the Jerker desk series (but resized for modern computers rather than giant CRTs)..

That was a hell of a system

A certain workshop in Maine hasn't been able to keep up with demand and I need some tools, so I made my own hand plane. Taking whispery shavings off a stool seat all afternoon.

Is this a thing for woodworkers? A friend of mine in VT just made one as well.

Moulding planes? I have a couple of boxwood ones and a Stanley #55 which, alas, I haven't used.
Tried making a planemaker's float out of an old file but did not get far.

One of my favorite shops here in Santa Fe has a George Nakashima bench that is very nice. https://www.shiprocksantafe.com/categories/furniture
