I had a dream about SkinnyGoomba's bedside tables. damned gorgeous.
Recs for flatware? I like this from Heath but it's out of stock and maybe a little more than I want to spend ($72) per setting.

Thanks. I was thinking about ordering one place setting from Heath and Crate and Barrel Emerge to compare. The price on the Taika is really good though.

Have you looked at Muji cutlery? I think it is great bang for the buck.

My personal preference is to cheap out on the flatware and splurge on the stemware (it literally sticks out from the table).

$1.90 for a fork? I'm not an animal!

Only on this site do people from major metro areas find ways of paying more for items that go for a song on the market. I cannot tell you how many beautiful sets of antique/vintage Georg Jensen flatware sets I've seen priced for nothing. Also, there are many good antique/vintage flatware/dinnerware sets from England that were mass-produced for the middle class market at the time, but beats out anything made today (ironstone for plates, etc). These also can be found in insanely good condition for cheap.

Everybody on this threak has such room for architectural/decorative improvements (including myself), I cannot fathom that any of the meat of the budget is going to flatware. I do like some of your houses though, and I think it is @lefty is the rare soul on this forum who has a good house with good decoration (Yes, yes, like everybody I really like @gdl203's house/apt., just not how he decorates it: but isn't great architecture mingled with poor decoration the ultimate power move?)

You should back off the stalking vibe just a little bit. It's off-putting

For the cutlery record, we use a basic set that my wife bought in Bangkok about 30 years ago in the apt and a tarnished sterling silver set from one of our grandparents at the cabin.

Cutlery is way down on my list of things to think about.

This is good thx. Salad forks are like ties...nice but totally unnecessary.

My problem is that salad forks are definitely optional for daily-use place settings...but its real nice to have them available as extra forks to use for dessert/lunch/cooking/snacks/etc. If you have 8 place settings, no way do you end the day with enough forks to actually seat 6-8 people without having to wash some. Even if you have everything washed after lunch, maybe you grab a fork to whisk up a corn starch slurry to thicken a sauce right before serving?

Sure, I could just have a totally different set of forks (or order extra individual dinner forks), but it is kind of nice to have everything matching...

Otherwise, yeah, I really like those fiskars sets every time they get posted here.
