Opinions on this office desk? Seems overpriced but has some thoughtful details. Worth it or just a gimmick and better off going with something else? I believe I've looked through most of the major catalogs and it just catches my eye. I also use a desk clamp monitor stand

I was also looking at motorized sit/stand desks but as I want something that will last a long time and I can move with, the motor and other internals don't seem to be extremely durable/serviceable, are very heavy, and annoying to disassemble/setup

For an entirely solid walnut desk, $1500 isn’t terrible. Attractive design too.

You can really go down a rabbit hole here. I took a brief dive into serious tea and was mystified at how tea can discernably taste different out of different cups ... and how expensive some cups can be.

100%. Gyokorowan and Chawan can get crazy. These were like $60 each and not even scratching the surface.

Between water quality, tea quality, tea storage, temp control, cup etc there is so much variability.

Yeah, best advice I got on this topic was "all in or not at all." That was an easy one for me - not at all right now (vs. north of $400/cup which is what I was looking at).

I am off the deep end with coffee, and pretty far gone (everything is relative) with wine/spirits/cigars/audio/etc.

Like many here, with whatever I pursue, I'd like to get dialed into what I really want sooner -- and avoid some of the ramp up time and learning curve (too much time, too much acquisition), while still having a genuine learning experience.

Overall, however, I must selectively "opt out" of certain pursuits (art, for example -- with the caveat that I own some photography, which is generally more accessible and affordable), simply because I don't want to go down the path.

In a world of perfect "self evolution" and "personal development," I'd also like to find a level of satisfaction in more pursuits that doesn't take me over the cliff. Just not sure I can always stop with the (perfectly suitable and perfect example) "Crockett and Jones" of ____ [whatever I fall into next].

Short term and long term, I aspire both to own fewer items of higher quality, but also to feel greater satisfaction in whatever my "cup of tea" is (and from whatever teacup I drink) regardless of where it falls on the spectrum of perfection.
