My great grandmother had 50 year old furniture that was completely worn out but still wrapped in plastic. That was in the mid 1990s.

My old man and my aunt back in the day at my grandparents house. If you notice the the plastic on the lower left. I got to experience the plastic as a young boy. Maybe @gdl203 can bring it back in style with his new chairs.

I am permanently signing off SF to travel the world and spread the word of Harvey Birdman. I wlll only poast from now on whenever @venessian poasts something in this threak in order to keep the record straight.. If @venessian never poasta again, I will be silent. I'll still be following along though, and will be available PM.

So here's my last question. What do you guys think about MCM office furniture being used as furniture for the home???

I think you should have followed the advice: always leave them wanting more

Looking at new everyday drinking glasses. Thinking of these Jasper Morrison tumblers from Iitala:

Leaning toward the sea blue version (to match my car, duh), but also really like the moss green.

Thoughts? Other suggestions? Quickly please, as I will likely have already bought these by the time you’ve finished reading this post.

I'm fine with my Iittala Kartio tumblers. Find that less saturated colors works best for me. Go well with the Teema plates.
But hey.. go for two clear ones and two coloured, test them out. Next year, get two more in another colour, or another style to mix it up a bit.

As a child of the '70s, I mostly see the glassware our parents had. That doesn't make them bad, of course. I generally like clear glass for everyday stuff, but the green is appealing.

I'd go for moss green or clear.

Clear only for us as well.
Pretty much everything we have comes from bohemia:

Primary reason being we had a short vacation in Prague years ago and loaded up the trunk from the factory store.

We are due for another trip as I want some glasses we do not have yet, probably next year.

We bought a vase from Moser as a souvenir, but I was considering some glasses. How do you like those? Crystal was everywhere, but obviously a lot of it was crap at crazy markups because of the reputation of the area.

Love the glasses, and they have proven to be sturdy enough over the years. Remains to be seen when we have kids though.

The markups are crazy, but buy enough and you can negotiate. Especially if you drive to the factory. Combine those two factors and it becomes an interesting proposition.

Your everyday drinking glasses are crystal? I always feel like I have to be slightly more careful with our crystal (which is just basic Waterford stuff) and I was told not to put them in the dishwasher, which is also a PITA.
