NYC is a young person's game. And as I only have a few good years left, it's time to explore somewhere else.

I also want to live a very different aesthetic life. A little more austere with a nod to brutalism. Concrete and steel and glass in nature.

Frankly, I hate change so it's going to be a challenge but I think I'll get there.

Santa Fe is the perfect place for this.

Everyone is from the coasts anyway.

Careful what you wish for, Jr.

Don’t forget his time in the SanFo wilderness. He barely survived.
Yeah, I kind of lost my mind there. But I survived.

I was thinking of a more severe NE landscape, but the few times I've been to the high desert I've appreciated the vibe. Really dig the kiva fireplaces.

Found a console table I like on Etsy of all places. It's way out of my price range considering all the other furniture I need to buy, and also I don't trust that the quality will rise to the price.

Before you sell that apartment as furnished, lemme buy those javanese wedding sculptures off you. I've got...$43, some candy wrappers and two junior sized lollipops I can offer.

Some random stuff.

German carved sign from the mid 1800s. It would have hung outside a shop.

This isn't a painting but just a slice of stone.

Bedside lamp. Not sure of provenance and a little beaten up, but we like them.

James Bearden side tables. These came with a large 7' tall standing cabinet weighing in excess of 800 lbs that I regret not buying at auction. They are only three made in this series and really should be together. If anyone reading has the big one, let's talk.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to this tripod lamp from West Elm? Thanks!

I've seen some nice stuff on Etsy. It's a good resource for connecting with independent craftsmen. I do agree that it can be hard to judge the quality, but that is an issue with anything bought online.

If you can swing it, the BDDW tripod is a classic. I have one that will live with me forever. But it's 13x the cost of the WE one.

I would ask @SkinnyGoomba to make you one. No idea what that would cost (I would guess less than BDDW) but you would get a handmade piece of furniture that you could enjoy for the rest of your life.

@lefty have you considered a Basquiat skateboard wallhanging to bring the room together?
No, but I have considered letting some little Basquiats-in-the-making come in and decorate one of the walls. Best of both worlds.
