This is for people who live in Manhattan (and certain parts of Brooklyn). What you don't realize is that photo was taken lying prone in a double bed, which is the only other piece of furniture in the apartment.
Yes, I do realize that. GDL said for a "small apartment."

• The chair is laughably uncomfortable
• The filing cabinet hits into the chair, even though there's space for it elsewhere.
• There's no hutch for a keyboard even though there's no apparent depth to the desk itself. Hutches allow you to save space when you're not using the desk.
• The whole desk/library looks like it would fall over if you blow on it.
• There's no task lighting. In most parts of Manhattana you can find better task lighting on the street corner. You can find a better desk on the street corner for that matter. But the desks are pretty nice, so that's not a knock.

I love how the desk looks, but it does feel unrealistic for a modern workspace. Nothing about it indicates it is laptop friendly or set up for a desktop. It all looks stagged, which is fine in the context of sharing the workspace online.

From my perspective the photo GDL posted “looks nice,” but I don’t think anyone is arguing this is a remotely good set up for working from home unless your job is collecting rent checks and using the desk area to put the checks into an envelope. What it has going for it is it’s bright and airy, and it’s tidy, even though it was clearly prepped for a photo.

err... my WFH setup since March is sitting at the kitchen counter with my laptop. This would have been a lovely upgrade.

Please feel free to share pictures of things you like or are you all falling for GE's basic level trolling to make the entire thread about bashing others and their taste? If so, don't

Damn Van Veen –– you're REALLY SERIOUS about upping your troll game. The whole "Manhattan and some parts of Brooklyn" spun me around, AND TO BE CLEAR, IM WRITING THIS FROM ONE OF THOSE SPINNING MACHINES IN A BACKWATER AMUSEMENT PARK IN THE AMERICAN SOUTH11111

My WFH setup would fit on that desk just fine, including the monitor. The window also gives nice videoconference light. :)

Could be worse. Mine’s my patio, which was OK until my questionable decision to let my daughter get a puppy turned it into a minefield.
