That's fair. The chair is $700 and has been sitting on CL for weeks already vs other stuff that sells in worse condition for more than $1k down here.

Actually, that is pretty damned cheap.

You could buy it, replace with new cushions from Herman Miller, and still come out way ahead.

Inspect the shock mounts as well, if they're worn (super easy to flex) then you may need to replace them. It's a job for Herman Miller since they have to release the glue that attaches them and reapply. IIRC most repair shops will replace with a bolt-through mount which is not a bad thing assuming they can release the glue without damaging the veneers.

Does HM actually do that kind of stuff? The one time I have had a warranty issue, they used a 3rd party (but sent them the real parts)

Yeah, but you also live somewhere where people have white eames lounges...so....

While fair, I'm sure they exist in all the cool places too, so at least I have that going for me.

We recently bought one with black leather. My wife was pushing for one in white but this was one of those very rare occasions where I did not entertain her point of view. Sounds kind of like I was a jerk but we have a pretty good partnership and when she realized how strongly I felt about it she dropped the white talk.
We saw a white one in a store after we had ours at home and she seemed genuinely happy that we didn't go that route.

Just show her what raw denim does to white leather and she'll be happy!

If the leather has a finish (most do) then you can just wipe it off with a damp cloth. If it does not, the best grades often do not in order to allow a natural patina to develop, then you'll have some perminant blue stains.

I have a white ELO, in Edelman all-grain and it doesn't take on stains. That was tested the day that I nodded off while holding a full espresso. The chair was unscathed.
