1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

+1, there is something about the concrete base and the marble that really bothers me.

You recently mistook Haus Lange and Haus Esters in Krefeld Germany for a DWR showroom, your eye is currently suspect.

It's not that they aren't nice spaces. But they are historical spaces, no? It's a mistake to mimic them today.

Mimic yes, but taking style cues from them is acceptable in my opinion. There is an excellent rationality to the stylistic choices such as material and pattern, good layout of the space, and good choice in furniture. The furniture is very nice, high quality, but it does not stand out on it's own to take over the room.

You dress In a way that every piece does not need to be a standout, but the whole can be a great success. I feel this is similar and I feel I originally fell victim to the mentality that everything had to be a standout.

I personally find this sort of restraint to be prevalent in nice interiors that span many styles, not just modern. Even some of the more opulent styles rarely feature one piece that completely overpowers the rest of the space.

Those chairs are the furniture equivalent of a hot pink lamborghini with flame decals on the sides.

I actually don't mind it. It would not be for me at all, those look horrifically uncomfortable. It does look a little racy though.

Would be a good chair to leave outside all year, rinse of in spring, and with some pillows be usable during the summer. I live in a concrete city, there is no way I want that stuff indoors.

now that I think of it, these would do very well at 'Le Jules Verne' in paris, a nice continuation of the outside...

If by "outside" you mean at the bottom of a lake attached to a rope as a boat anchor, then yes, it's a good chair to leave outside.

Agreed. To me, they could be a lot better with a different color but still they are a bit of an eyesore.

New chair at Cappellini. Just saw it in person today. Gorgeous. But pricey. $5,700.
