When you can, replace the line with something higher end from Orvis. It will make a noticeable difference.

Got my LG G2 and had it wall mounted. Didn't want to deal with going through drywall for such a short amount of cable showing so I'll hide it with some color matched molding. Planter is temporary, have a bigger glazed indigo one coming.

@sugarbutch You're right about the window above the wet bar shining on the screen. It's only in the morning for a little while but I'll eventually get some blinds.

Also it's super thin!

Might I also recommend pushing the sofa closer to the TV? Even with a screen that big, you're sitting pretty far away.

EDIT: Also, looks nice!

I've used US-Mattress. They generally have good prices - check slickdeals and they'll pop-up with really good deals from time to time. I bought a new mattress maybe two years ago from them, which was my second time, and I've been very happy with it (it is a Beautyrest Platinum that I paid $650 for.

You can try going to stores and laying on one to find one you like, and they can match the model to whatever the matching model is on their site.

Costco currently has an $850 front page deal on slickdeals (Queen) for a Kirkland brand made by Stearns & Foster.
Just wanted to thank you for this. We ended up getting that one from Costco, and it's been wonderful so far. Appreciate the hot tip!

I, too, watched Nymphomaniac for the fishing scene and only the fishing scene.

I think pushing the couch closer to the TV will block the view of the fireplace.

I considered using the US-mattress site but gave up after getting overwhelmed with options at a local mattress store (I wanted to try them before ordering off the site). So I went with Charles P. Rogers. Ironically, I didn't try this brand before purchasing but took a risk after reading their review on wirecutter. I am very happy so far.

Completed that stool I mentioned some month ago :)

The general idea was a continuation of the meeting between steel and metal, and more specifically using steel rods without any further need for glue/bolts/attachment points. Optimally I would have preferred a solution that could be entirely dismantled into its individual parts, but that will have to wait for future iterations.

As usual it took longer than anticipated to finish it all, but very happy with how it turned out despite some struggles and problems that arose during construction.

That's really cool @kindofyoung . Great work.

My current mattress is 14 years old so it's probably time. I'd heard some good things about those mattress-in-a-box products that you can buy online and figured I'd go that route, but then I encountered this interesting article about Japanese futons:

Still deliberating.
We're at 22 years for our double sided coil spring mattress (McCroskey). It was expensive but that's 2-4x the life expectancy of a typical mattress, so we're probably getting the same thing this time. Just trying to decide how many arms and legs we're willing to spend.

We don't have any memory foam in the house, don't particularly like breathing formaldehyde.

Is it normal for sofa seat cushions to pull out on expensive sofas? I can sit on mine maybe twice before having to lift the back cushions and push the seat cushions back in. Should I mention it to DWR?

An unrelated question: I recently ordered a large USM Haller storage unit, and while I wanted compartments with lighting, I decided not to go with that option because of the huge price difference. What's another option for hidden lighting in the open compartments?
