I'm thinking about ordering my first shirt with contrasting white collar and cuffs. BUT, I'm in a french cuff moratorium. Is it "wrong" to use contrasting barrel cuffs? Do you wear these? I'm hesitant because it makes the shirt less useful as I think they look odd worn casually.

Yes. Contrast collar shirts take matching white double or link or self double or link cuffs only.

Then you need to get some casual cufflinks.

Er, sorry about that. It didn't turn up when I did a search for some reason. (This response to being caught posting a repetitive topic henceforth known as Blame the J)

Opinions on the appropriateness (or lack thereof) in considering contrasting collar/cuffs in colors other than white?

I would, at least, specify a two or three button cuffs - just to make it a bit more sporty.

If done right, it can look cool but perhaps not classical if that's your thing.

I'm lusting after a contrast cuff/collar shirt to wear untucked but there are a lot of shirts in line before I'll make that happen.
