Several weeks ago I had a phone interview for a financial analyst position and it went very well. This is a corporate finance role where all the team members are former investment bankers and management consultants (JP Morgan, Bain, etc.). My skill set matches what they need very well, though I don't come from a banking/consulting background.

I was invited on the spot during the phone interview for an in-person interview. The face-to-face involved me cycling through 7 people with a math test at the end. I felt I did pretty well throughout the whole process but I didn't knock it out of the park. The hiring manager did respond to a thank you email I sent after the interview. A couple days later I get a request from my headhunter and a personal email from the hiring manager to do some other testing (good sign?). This testing was difficult so I'm not entirely sure how I did.

I was the first person brought in for the face-to-face interviews and was told they'd be going through some more interviews the following week. Late this week would be the 2 week mark since my interview. I am planning on contacting the hiring manager at that time. Phone call or email? What do I say?

Email. Reiterate you enjoyed the opportunity to interview and wanted to check in to see what the next step would be.

Thank god I don't have a real job, I could never put up with taking a test to get a paycheck anymore.
