Hello Gentlemen,

Anyone here work as a consultant? I'm talking McKinsey or Boston Consulting Group...right down to the small boutique consultancies in NYC or Chicago...

What is your daily attire? Do you tailor your attire to suit the client?

Any consultants here consulted for a fashion house? Anything from an Italian or French maison de couture...like Zilli or Kiton or Ermenegildo Zegna....right down to the American houses like Ralph Lauren or even The Gap Inc. etc?

I believe some of us prefer to wear dazzling French maison de couture creations in our spare time. AF has a wonderful off-shoulder Poiret piece in crimson organza. To die for. Fuuma wears nothing but Alaia.

I prefer going butt naked and letting MINI-ME swing free.

I am a management consultant. I tend to wear odd jackets a lot with ties. I would wear suits but I get enough flak wearing odd jackets. When doing presentations and meeting senior people I tend to wear suits.

I have had more than one senior manager of very large companies give me grief for 'being WAY too dressed up'.

Nothing like a CFO of a mega company wandering around in ratty old dockers and an ill fitting polo button down shirt.

I would love to work with a fashion house. I normally get exciting things like industrial goods manufacturers or consumer packaged goods.

Dude you're a consultant, they'd use the same skill set you have so you'd do the same **** but the factories/distributors would be distributing nice garments (that you wouldn't see), that's it.

i think he was wondering if the attire differs.

I do some pretty small time consulting and i dress the 9's. I've never had anyone tell me I'm over dressed for what I'm doing now.

Judging by email and postal addresses, I've sold some pretty nice suits to folks from McKinsey, BCG, etc via this board and on eBay. So at least some of them are dressing well!

The management consultants I've met in real life also tend to prefer business formal attire for more formal business situations, with odd jacket (+/- tie) combos for more casual work contexts.
