Appearing in this week's Talk of the Town!

After the toast [by Baryshnikov], the pianist Koji Attwood gave a brief solo concert, ending with his arrangement of "Recuerdos de la Alhambra," written for classical guitar by the Spanish master Francisco Tárrega. This is a beautiful and melancholy piece, and, as Attwood played, New York's western horizon, broadly visible from the windows of the dance studio where the party was being held, seemed to hear it. A great pink sun sank majestically into the river. Recuerdos means "memories," and Ratmansky, staring into his wineglass, may have had memories of his own. The world, however interconnected now, is still a collection of different places, and a man can be in only one of them at a time.

I've never heard that piece on piano; always on guitar. I'm sure Koji did a great job.

Congrats, Koji! You may soon have to change your signature to say something like, "I'm a concert pianist... which is a fancy way of saying I'm far too famous and busy to speak to you losers!"

That is awesome. To be introduced by Baryshnikov...just badass!

There are many things I'd give up to be a gifted pianist like Koji. Keep on playing!

Yikes--I guess the cat's out of the bag. She painted a rather lovely picture of the event, but I'm afraid the sun had set so low at that point I could barely see a damn thing!

(wore the old trusty Kiton suit, Brad--it's still holding up pretty well, thankfully)

Koji posted this video a couple of months ago:

We need to get Artisan Fan to NYC so Koji can get better sound.

I'm working on it--requires a couple more sessions in a studio (recording all my own transcriptions) which is increasingly hard to schedule, unfortunately.
I need to get it done too--owe quite a few people on here and AAAC a cd!

Really nice to see a successful performer. I'm learning just how hard it is to make a go of it, you deserve a lot of respect. Congratulations!
