They actually have two different cuts, one slim and another more traditional.

You should be sticking with a S, I'm 5'7" and a little heavier than you but the medium at J. Crew fits well, which means you can move down to a S. If you have a bigger shoulder build than slim fit stuff will work better (RL Custom, RLBL for example) but if you are slim and just have a beer belly then like others said, hit the gym. Also cut some booze and red meat and you'll be down 15 pounds in no time.

it's the belly, duh. Having a belly like that is a sign of being unhealthy and overweight. You can't just look at the weight, you have to look at where it's spread out.

He said is 5' 7" and 165. I know hearing "go to the gym" could be considered rude, but it is honestly he best solution.

I lost 15-20lbs after graduating college and that did way more than buying tailored clothing to fit my chubby body would have done. Once you start working out/eating properly/no beer, the weight will fly off.

According to the CDC at 5'7" 165 lbs he falls into the overweight category....

http://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/ass...=165&inches=67

Also note that the CDC's standards are based on health stats and death rates, not how good you look. For most people their best look will be in the lower half of the "Normal weight" category. So the OP likely has a bit more than just a few lbs to loose in order to look his best.

Here is a video everyone should watch. This professor explains why he believes excessive fructose consumption (which includes cane sugar) combined with fiber-less food is the main cause of the obesity epidemic. He offers some very compelling evidence for this argument.

Minimizing fructose in your diet is a far more powerful tool than the commonly offered advice of "hitting the gym". Focus on what you eat first, exercise second.

Jeez, I thought me being 5'7 and 155lbs. was fat.

But co-sign on what others in here said. Get rid of that belly; it's unflattering and "hiding" it won't do much.
