There are a lot of threads on this site discussing the relative fit among various RTW slim-fit and regular shirts. I have a 15.5 inch neck and was curious to see how the various brands, and fits within each brand, would compare for me. I got measurements from Harvie & Hudson, TM Lewin, Charles Tyrwhitt, Brooks Brothers, and Jos A Bank, and comparing them side by side helped me narrow down my choices (and settle on H&H Slim). The table is copied below for anyone else who might find it useful.

A few general observations.

  • The American brands (BB and JAB) are boxier, the British brands (H&H, TML, CT) have more taper to the waist. No surprises there. European styles tend to be closer-fitting.

  • H&H shirts tend to fall somewhere in the middle, between the boxier American brands and the more tapered British brands.

  • TML shirts have both the slimmest cut and also the most extreme taper. The difference between chest and waist on the TML Slim is 7.5 inches and 6.25 inches on the TML Classic Full, whereas in the other brands the difference for a similar chest size is 4.5 inches or less.

Brand Fit Neck (in) Chest (in) Waist (in)
Brooks Brothers Traditional 15.5 51.5 47.34
Harvie & Hudson Classic 15.5 49 45
Brooks Brothers Regular 15.5 49 46
Jos A Bank Standard 15.5 48.5 47.5
Harvie & Hudson Slim 15.5 47.3 41
TM Lewin Regular 15.5 47.25 44.25
Jos A Bank Tailored 15.5 46.5 42
TM Lewin Slim 15.5 46.5 39
Brooks Brothers Slim 15.5 46.5 42
Charles Tyrwhitt Classic 15.5 46 45
TM Lewin Classic Full 15.5 44.25 38
Charles Tyrwhitt Slim 15.5 44.1 41.3
Brooks Brothers Extra Slim 15.5 43.5 41

Thanks! Great to see a post all about giving and not about asking, especially since this is your first post.

Something seems odd regarding the Lewin measurements.
