My 41 in luxury achillies or whatever stretched the fuck out so now I'm using a thin sole pad- the same size in suede vintages have only stretched out a wee bit- not enough to warrant anything like a pad. Looks like they account for the padding when sizing, though.

people here saying they need more width should just buy some shoe stretchers from ebay, they are super cheap and very effective. i used this method on my achilles which were unwearable, they're perfect now.

What do you use to clean Achilles (black/white)?

Scrub soap + water. Apply leather conditioner. Let bake 2 hours. Apply protectant. For a little soul, scrub with a MagicEraser. Allow laces to soak in detergent for upwards of one hour before wringing out and allowing to dry.

Nice Derbys! Want to know if it fits roughly the same size as achilles. Do you guys think Derbys is formal enough with a suit? Want to pick up a pair.

Tried on a bunch of new season CP's on the weekend.

I am literally all over the place on sizing.

    41

42 - Still too tight though! Mostly in the vamp/front of the foot. Wouldn't want to go to a 43.

    42 - Could potentially go a 41.

Basically, if the CP shoe is padded, they are much too tight on me.

    Not as simple as that.

The 42 in chukka and padded Achilles both had 1cm+ in the toe.

Going for a 43 will only add to that and they remain narrow.

Ultimately it just means the padded models don't fit.

I've had 4 pairs and my sizing has varied greatly -- from 40 up to 42 depending on the model.

I've been a fan, but am not crazy about the derbys. There's brands that do way better derbys out there at similar / lower price points.

The achilles are pretty untouchable in my opinion.

But, I'd say Church's, Allen Edmonds and Officine Creative (slightly more expensive) are of better / at least comparable quality.
