Hi guys, long term lurker, first time poster and don't usually post on forums asking for advice unless something bothers me! I bought a pair of the Achilles Low a few months ago and was quite happy with them, scratch that, I am still happy with them, but something that is annoying me slightly is starting to happen to my shoes. Now, one of the things I really liked about the shoes, is the inside kept white-some of my shoes in the past ended up the colour of whatever socks I was wearing due to sweating in them! Now, I'm not a very sweaty person or anything, only problem is my feet seem to sweat far too easy when walking. My lovely (nearly) new Achilles Low are turning grey inside, where I suppose I have been sweating and the leather has been rubbing against my sock/sole. For example, you can see the grey outlining my toes. Now, you can tell me that as people can't see the inside of the shoes when they're on me, it doesn't really matter, but I want to take care of these shoes so they last me a long time, and not have to get rid of them after a while. So with that in mind, can I do anything to do to 'repair the damage' on the inside of the house, and any cleaning tips from owners of Achilles Low in general for inside and outside the shoe. Or should I stop wearing them as much as I have been and just wear them occasionally?

Not sure if this is a serious question, but the answer is that this is the way shoes wear in. You have your feet, upon which all your body weight sits, on the insoles of your shoes. The only way to keep them from wearing in is 1) Never wear them, ever, or
2) Only wear them when you are sitting down (so, essentially never, or, if you are wheelchair bound, whenever you want).

Hi LA Guy. Firstly, yes, it is a serious question. Secondly, don't mean to seem sarcastic but I am fully aware shoes, especially when they are worn, do indeed wear! What I am concerned about is how far they seem to be wearing-I've had cheaper pairs of sneakers, and they've maybe not worn as quickly on the insoles as my CP's have! I know you will never stop wear, I'm just trying to slow it down a bit, I saw these as being different to your other sneakers that you buy a pair once a year, wear them out, throw them away and buy a new pair for the next year. I want to take the best possible care with these as although they're not the most expensive shoes I've bought, they're the ones I would wear most frequently.

The insoles just discolor, but Common Projects are built on a pretty tough outsole - as tough as sneaker soles get. The leather of the Achilles also seems to hold up pretty well, at least ime.

I've had these shoes for 5 years and they are still fresh. Here is how I clean them.

Pull the laces, put them in boiling/hot water with oxygen bleach.
Scrub the soles with a green scouring pad.
For the sides, use a credit card inserted between the top lip of the sole and the leather, this blocks the leather and you can go hard with the scouring pad, everything will come out with enough time and force, the rubber will not be hurt.
Using leather cleaner on a soft cloth, rub the inner soles until they look clean again, this takes time and force as well.
The outer leather I treat with conditioner, not polish. Usually finish with a wax.
Iron the laces to dry them and return them to shape.

You can apply just antiperspirant to any part of your body, if you knew you had a long flight or something, apply it to places that are not vented.

Hi, sorry to comment on such an old thread, but I've been searching for advice on leather care for cps and no one really seems to do anything for them. so do you rub standard leather conditioner and then standard leather shoe wax? does the result make the leather shinier than normal? Thanks a bunch in advance!

I've just been wearing mine extremely hard for the last two years. I don't understand taking immaculate care of shoes... they're on the ground daily. With that being said, I'd be really interested in seeing a 5 year old pair. I'm all about patina, with everything, but still interested.
