Picked this up for 10$ I'm 99.9% sure it's this.

I'm pretty free to wear/take it a tailor/give it away/ or wait until I drop a few pounds with it. But I Really like it and when my hands are dropped down it looks fine but when I raise them you can see it is raised a bit forward which can't be a good sign. I think it's just a slimmer design. Still it puzzles me since today I was at a Tailor (before I got the suit) and he told me I have a 37" chest and this coat measures 20-21" (x2 = 2"-4" = about my size?) So anything I can or should change or is all hope lost? I'm very new to sports coats so I'm not sure whether or not it looks acceptable or just silly.

First, unbutton that bottom button. I would say it looks a little baggy around the midsection, so some tailoring is in order. If you have it taken in, I would also advise shortening the sleaves ever so sligtly, maybe a quarter inch. For ten bucks, you did very well.

yes, unbutton the bottom button but I would say it looks too tight in the mid-section - not too loose.

it looks too small in the waist, do you have wide hips?

it's not the jacket you linked to. the lapel widths on your jacket are way too large to be a modernly cut lapel width.

So the chest is ok? And RL size chart says suits are 38" with 32" waist and I'm around 34" waste so that would make sense. How much would it cost to change it and should I do it? As for sleeves I feel that they are if all too short.

As for the lapel you might be right it's probably 3/4" wider then in the picture. Still though every other detail of the jacket matches. Does the lapel make it look old fashioned, can/should I get it recut?

The chest is a total mess. Now, it's possible that it just really needs to be pressed, but it looks too big and too small at the same time. The sleeves are twisting up. The chest is lumpy and pulling at the same time.

+1 if you're going for the look on the left.

I would take the jacket back to the thrift store and leave your shell necklace there while you're at it.

I'm not going for that look at all. I'm not going for any look in particular, only wondering if I can take it to a tailor make a few alterations and wear it. I might as well ask the tailor what he thinks and if it's unrealistic I can just get rid of it.
