I recently purchased a pair of shell cordovan PTB for class. Needless to say, after the break in period they are the best shoes I’ve ever owned and I’ve been hooked ever since. I need one more shoe that I can use running around as a third and fourth year in clinical rotations. I‘m really attracted to Alden’s but need something that can take a beating, I can reshine, and move on with life. These shoes should be comfortable standing for 4-6hrs a day. Thanks in advance.

The color 8 shell longwings are my most comfortable shoe - more comfortable than my other Alden shoes & boots. But, if your current shoes are color 8 that's a bit redundant. You could get black, but if you've got color 8 already (very dark in Alden) you really should get a shoe in brown. Not sure what other shoes have the same insole as the longwing.

Pretty sure the Alden PTB is usually on the Barrie last. If that’s the case with yours, then you have a good number of choices that use the same last. Second the long wing blucher. I actually don’t think there’d be any problem getting it in color 8 personally.

Depends on the rotation. For many you won't want to wear Aldens at all.
