Black male, athletic build, complexion ala Denzel/Andre 3000.

What colors go good with my face?

What colors, in your opinion, look good on them?

What does Denzel look good in, in your opinion? Denzel is quintessential elegance, so if it works on his skin you will be fine. Andre 3000 is a bit of a flashy dresser, being a hip hop mogul and all, so I'd stay away from what he wears.

If your skin is lighter on the African-American skin tone spectrum, I suggest getting shirts/ties/suit combinations that provide as much a contrast as does your skin and hair tones. I am Indian and have a skin tone a bit lighter than most African Americans, so I go for a little less contrast, but more than a Anglo American. Also I have a shaved head, so the contrast bit isn't as pronounced.

well here's the thing. Denzel seems to only where white or black shirts. That's looking at Google images.

I like grey, baby blue, dark orange/gold, tan brown, purple/violet, black, white, baby yellow. Those are the colors of shirts I own, oxford style and solid.

May also get a navy blue, maroon, dark purple solids and a pink checked shirt too. Just wondering if they, and my current selection look good on me. I just want to make sure I understand the difference between the colors I like and the colors that clash with my tone.

I think light colors go best with dark skin. Ie. sky blue, tan, yellow, pink, orange etc. Don't go too dark or you'll end up being camoflagued don't go too light or you'll end up looking well, not good. (Can't really think of a word right now)

I'm a darker black male myself - almost any color works on us to be frank, with the exception of your lighter -> darker browns, but this is dependant on your skintone.

Light colors as well as neutral colors both work.. and of course, black works.

Well, according to what I've read on the subject, deeply saturated colors in the cool spectrum are for you. Supposedly you are to avoid orange, gold, rust, yellow-greens, and most beiges and browns.

As you can see . . . pastels are also 'right,' for you.
