I think gold buttons look kind of Old Manish.

What colors do you recommend aside from blue???

    Thanks

    Absolutely right.

    Horn pattern buttons to match.

I like gold buttons on a navy blazer, but I also like dark brown horn buttons. White MOP can also be nice.

Dark brown is most versatile IMO.

I just redid a jacket with MOP - will post pics when I pick it up from the tailor.

I prefer enameled buttons from outfits like Holland & Sherry and Benson & Clegg.

I have smoked MOP on one jacket.

However, I don't mind brass buttons on a blazer, but then I'm an old man myself!

I asked for matching buttons on my recently acquired jacket. After surfing around the web, I've seen some navy blazers with silver buttons that look great. This presumes that you wear silver/steel accessories (watch, belt buckle, etc.).

Would you consider blue MOP or horn?

By definition a blazer has metal buttons. If you switch to horn it becomes a sport coat. Nothing wrong with blue sport coats but they aren't blazers. Therefore, if what you want is a blazer and don't like gold then silver or pewter is very good. Personally, I converted a blue sport coat into a blazer by installing monogramed pewter buttons. Dashingly reserved, don'tcherknow. Anyway, what you need to do is decide whether you want a blazer or a sport coat and choose buttons accordingly.

What do you think about antique copper? I've ben debating on having my buttons changed to something like this on one of my navy 2 buttons:

I don't believe the definition is quite as stark as you make it out to be.
