Continuing on the OPs question, do you guys not feel like a Midnight / Navy / Dark Blue blazer doesnt go with raw or dark denim?

I never wear the two together feeling that the blues will be too close. Sort of like a navy blazer and mismatched blue trousers. A bad non-denim, denim tuxedo....

It kinda pisses me off, because I dont really like black jackets (blazers/sportscoats), but I cant think what other colors to wear with dark denim...

(sorry if this is deviating from the OPs question)

I wear midnight blue blazers and navy blazers with dry/dark denim. The colors are sort of complementary IMO, esp if they haven't been washed and are shiny and have a completely different texture than wool or velvet.

I thought the point of midnight blue - and why it's acceptable for black-tie - is that it looks blacker than black at night. So just wear it at night.

More black than black? How much more black can black be? The answer is none. None more black.

This is perhaps the most appropriate use of

ever.

Black's not actually black, and even if it were black, it doesn't necessarily look black. Midnight blue passes for black and might not be blacker, exactly, but is a richer black than black.
