For my MTM navy suits, I selected light blue on one and red on the other.

Would you not agree that the suit and accessories have an effect on the impression of the person who wears it? If you have a lining or suit which draws too much attention, it is not proper for business situations in my humble opinion.

My family's tailor Moises Aramis de la Cruz typically lines our navy suits in a color he calls "la carmina branca," which is a faint blush red. Such a color can be found only in certain parts of Portugal, so good luck getting your hands on it if you are poor -- which I assume most of you are!

I'd say dark blue and red with a bit of a pattern like paisley, like the picture above.

Disgaree. The accessories, yes. But I have NEVER noticed a suit lining which leads me to think that the wearer is not proper for a business situation! You are really over thinking the lining. I have pink/red paisley/gold/etc linings in some of my suits. They never draw "too much attn." I have gotten compliments on the colors. Suit linings draw glances. They are not ties. I say go with whatever floats your boat. I never get subdued colors!

Anything goes!

There is no limitation on choice, it can be glimpsed by others but will not detract in any way. In fact a vibrant lining can be a talking point.

Not sure where he's getting this from...

For the life of me I can't understand the point of this kind of question. The point of choosing a lining is that it's unseen and you please no one but yourself.

Lining aren't completely unseen. They usually peak out at the back of a vented jacket and, if you have flapped pockets and use them, under the pocket flaps.

The key word above is PEEK. Noone will give a 2nd thought to one's lining and deduct that that person is not "professional" due to it! A goofy suit-yes. A over the top tie-maybe. Lining-NO!

Lining DOES NOT make a suit or the wearer any more or less "business!" $hit...it ain't that hard!
