Color for my bedroom

I'm moving into a new apartment in NYC shortly. I'd like to paint the walls. I like light gold and colors in that family (khaki, tan, etc). What color do you guys recommend? I'd be willing to switch my duvet as well.

The only problem I can think of is a grey duvet would most likely clash with gold/tan walls. It's a relatively small room so I think lighter colors would work best.

Those colors with grey would clash but I think it's the best family of colors for a bedroom. If you go with something too dark then it'll look like a dominatrix's pad. If you go with a sharp color (sea foam green, etc) then it gets hard to match around. Stick with the beige family.

I like a serene environment for my bedroom. White or very lightly off-white walls. White sheets and duvet.

Black lacquer. Personally, I don't like light and airy rooms unless it's a room in French taste.

However, I do like the idea of gold walls, or perhaps even pearl grey.

I don't think a dark color is an option since the room is fairly small and a dark color would make the room feel claustrophobic. Any other ideas for lighter colors?

Try a organic theme. You mentioned tan, and khaki, so you could add celery green walls. Balance it with chocolate brown furniture and white accents (such as molding, trim, sheets, white flowers...). I don't know if gold would work though.
