College Ties by Vineyard Vines

I usually don't like novelty ties, such as one with school mascots. But I saw a KU tie by Vineyard Vines that I just couldn't pass up. Does anybody have these ties? If so, in what situations do the work best? It's very subtle, so it should work in most settings.

I don't own a collegiate tie, but I would wear them especially at events related to the alma mater in question - alumni functions, fraternity events, etc. Also dinner parties, other casual events. And maybe on Fridays.
