I'm partial to the ever-so-popular Dakine and Northface backpacks. You'll look like a normal college student and you'll actually have a practical backpack vs. a satchel.

I'm not interested in backpacks, but saw recently this in the June Esquire UK, 6 recommendations, see the Three ways to pimp your pack article

e.g Paul Smith camel canvas (right)

you're going to look like you're playing dress up if you wear some of these around a college campus.

More like hard-core pea-cocking and to be truthful I don't care enough about what people think about what I wear at long as I like it [IMG]

Jansport is the branded t-shirt of the backpack world. Sure it does what it is supposed to well (in this analogy which is clothe you) but why settle for that *insert name here* shirt when you can afford a button-up which you know you will enjoy wearing more?

What's the SF consensus regarding the Archival Clothing Rucksack? I can't decide between this and the Filson 262. Archival Clothing's blogpost about their inspirations for their version of the rucksack actually highlights many of the issues I have with the traditional Duluth style packs: http://www.archivalclothing.com/2010...-round-up.html They review the Filson 262 there too and the points are actually quite valid. I'm getting a rucksack because I've carried around a laptop in a Billingham shoulder bag for years and it's a bitch on the shoulders, so comfort is important and I'm not sure if the 262 is going to be an improvement over my old Billingham with it's thin straps. Also I'm a pretty skinny Asian so the squat design of the Filson might look odd on me. On the other hand, I've always wanted a Filson :sigh:

Update on Topo Design Kettlesack bag:
I contacted Topo cause I would really like to get the bag I truly wanted their bag as my next backpack (I got hiking with friends sometimes and wanted a bag that could work as both without sacrificing looks) to see if they were going to offer a pocket attachment to the sides for added storage (I would use them to carry my mug & water bottle). They said that they were planning to refresh the bag so that it had side pockets stitched on the bag. So if anyone was looking at the bag I would recommend holding off on purchasing the bag until they add the pockets.

    ^I like green.

I really like my Muji backpack. The design is pretty tight and it holds up well.

I think both the green and the Tan are nice but I would suggest you go with your gut as it seems others also think it's a good idea.

.....Question: Would anyone here purchase this bag?
